Q. Is audio/video mystery shopping legal?

A. Yes. Have you ever observed surveillance cameras in public areas and businesses? It is generally understood and agreed that individuals do not have the right to an expectation of privacy while in the public domain. Even so, Instant-Replays provides you with a consent form your sales person will sign, agreeing to participate in an audio/video program designed to help improve individual performance.

The psychology of your sales person assuming that any customer he or she encounters could be a performance shopper can go a long way.


Q. Who owns the videos and how is the information kept confidential?

A. The client is the owner of all videos produced on behalf of the business. Instant-Replays considers all information regarding client shops to be confidential. We protect the shops and the information they represent accordingly.

We will maintain a copy of your shops for a period of one year. After one year, we will send you the original shop or destroy it, whichever you prefer.


Q. Who are your shoppers and how are they trained?

A. Among the attributes that differentiate us is our hands-on approach. We not only personally train and certify our shoppers one-on-one, we continue to coach them throughout the entire shopping process, from equipment use to actual shopping interaction. We require our shoppers to practice "shopping" with us over and over until we feel they are ready to shop for our clients. The criteria we seek include excellent communication, employment history, shopping experience, neat appearance, geographic location, and ethnic diversity.
